How to get Wix form submissions on WhatsApp
Wix Forms can't send submissions to WhatsApp itself. Here are the apps, automations and code that can, what each needs, and the quickest one to set up.
- Updated
Short answer
Wix Forms can't send submissions to WhatsApp on its own: it notifies you by email and in the Wix app. To get them on WhatsApp, use a WhatsApp app from the Wix App Market, Zapier or Make, Wix Automations or Velo code calling a WhatsApp API, or a form alert service added through Custom Code.
Key takeaways
- Wix sends each form submission to your account email and the Wix app, which may be all you need.
- Wix's WhatsApp features are for chatting with customers and booking reminders, not for forwarding forms to you.
- Zapier, Make, Wix Automations and Velo can all reach WhatsApp, but sending from your own number needs Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform.
- Adding a script through Custom Code needs a connected domain, which means a Wix Premium plan.
- Keep Wix's email notification on as a backup, whichever route you choose.

Can Wix send form submissions to WhatsApp by itself?
No. Wix Forms tells you about a new submission by email and in the Wix app, and its WhatsApp features do other jobs. Connecting WhatsApp Business to Wix Inbox lets you answer customers who message you, and Wix Bookings can send WhatsApp reminders to clients. Neither forwards a form to your phone.
The Inbox connection also comes with conditions. It needs a WhatsApp Business API account on a number that isn't already on WhatsApp, it can't start a conversation with someone who hasn't messaged you first, and the number then works only through Wix Inbox, not the WhatsApp app.
What are the ways to get Wix form submissions on WhatsApp?
There are four ways to get them on WhatsApp itself, plus Wix's own app notification, which may be enough on its own.
| Way | Gets it on WhatsApp? | What you need | Skill needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wix app notification | No, a push notification | The Wix app on your phone | None |
| A WhatsApp app from the Wix App Market | Yes | A paid app plan | Low |
| Zapier or Make | Yes | An automation plan and a WhatsApp Business Platform number | Medium |
| Wix Automations or Velo code calling an API | Yes | A WhatsApp provider's API and someone to write and maintain it | High |
| Form alert service | Yes | A script added through Custom Code | Low |
Which suits you depends on who needs the enquiry and how much you want to look after.
Just you, and you already live in the Wix app: turn on its push notifications and stop there.
You want WhatsApp with the least set-up: a WhatsApp app from the App Market or a form alert service.
Each enquiry also needs to land in a CRM or spreadsheet: Zapier or Make, since you'll be paying for the automation anyway.
You already have a developer and a WhatsApp Business Platform number: Wix Automations or Velo.
Is the Wix app notification enough?
For some people it is, and it costs nothing. Wix says that whenever someone submits a form, you get a notification to your account email and in the Wix app, and the submission is saved under Forms & Submissions in your dashboard.
The email comes from [email protected] and goes to the site owner unless you change it. To add someone, open Automations in your dashboard, edit the form's automation and add them to the recipients of its Send an email action. People who aren't collaborators have to be added as contacts first. Add that sender address to your contacts as well, so the notification is less likely to be filtered as spam.
To get it on your phone, install the Wix app, sign in and check that push notifications are on. In the app, that's Inbox, then the More Actions icon, Inbox Settings, Notification Settings and the Allow Push Notifications toggle. The weak points are that it arrives among every other Wix notification, and only you and your site's collaborators get it. Someone in the office or on the van who doesn't log in to Wix won't.
Are there Wix apps that send submissions to WhatsApp?
Yes. The Wix App Market lists WhatsApp apps, such as WhatsApp Notifications by MKP, whose listing says it sends alerts to your own number when a form is submitted, as well as for orders, bookings and event tickets. It can also send customers booking reminders.
At the time of writing, it has no free plan, and each paid plan includes a set number of messages a month [CHECK]. The listing doesn't say whether messages come from your own WhatsApp number or the app's, so ask the developer before you install it if that matters to you. Look at its reviews and when it was last updated too, because an app that stops working usually does so without telling you.
Can Zapier or Make send Wix forms to WhatsApp?
Both can. Zapier's Wix app has a Forms trigger, and Make's Wix app has a Watch Form Submissions module that starts a scenario each time a form is sent. The WhatsApp half is the harder part: sending from your own business number means Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, with a registered number and pre-approved message templates. Our post on sending Contact Form 7 submissions to WhatsApp covers that side in more detail, and it's the same for any form.
Wix Automations can do it without Zapier or Make. Its Send HTTP request action, which Wix describes as for advanced users, can post each submission straight to a WhatsApp provider's API when the Form submitted trigger fires. You still need the provider account, the number and the templates, and someone who can read the provider's API documentation to build the request.
Whichever automation you use, check what it costs per enquiry. Each submission is a run of the automation and, if you send from your own business number, a template message that Meta charges for. For a few enquiries a week that's small, but it adds up across several sites.
Can you do it with Velo code?
Yes, if you or your developer write JavaScript. Velo, Wix's coding platform, runs a backend event called wixForms_onSubmissionCreated whenever a Wix Form gets a submission. You put it in the events.js file in your site's Backend section, read the answers from the event and send them to a WhatsApp provider's API.
Keep the provider's API key in Wix's Secrets Manager, not in the code, and only use it in backend code. It gives you full control over the message, but you own every failure: an expired key, a rejected template or a change to the API means enquiries stop arriving, and nothing tells you until someone notices. Keep Wix's email notification switched on alongside it.
How to set up the quickest route
A form alert service is the quickest route that gets submissions onto WhatsApp itself, because it sends from its own number and needs no Meta account or code. Formcrier is one. You add its script once through Wix's Custom Code setting, which needs a published site with a connected domain, and connecting a domain needs a Wix Premium plan. Test on the published site rather than in the editor's preview. If the site is also served from another address, such as a subdomain, add it under Sites → Allowed domains.
-
Add your site to Formcrier
Sign up, enter your website's address and copy your script from Sites → Install.
-
Open Custom Code in Wix
In your site's dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code and press + Add Custom Code.
-
Paste the script
Paste it in, give it a name such as Formcrier, choose All pages and place it in Body, end. Press Apply.
HTML<script src="https://cdn.formcrier.com/v1/formcrier.js" data-key="pk_live_…" async></script>
-
Switch on your form
Open a page with the form on your live site. It appears under Sites → Forms, switched off. Switch on each form you want alerts for.
-
Connect WhatsApp and test
Go to Alert destinations → Add destination, choose WhatsApp, scan the QR code and press send on the message that opens. Then fill in your form yourself.
Your Wix forms and their own notifications carry on as they are. Formcrier is free for 10 alerts a month, with no WhatsApp Business account needed. See the Wix page and the WhatsApp page, or our wider guide to website enquiries on WhatsApp.
Frequently asked questions
In your site's dashboard under Forms & Submissions, where you can sort and filter them for each form. They're kept there whatever happens to the notifications.
Yes. The same kinds of tools can send a text instead of a WhatsApp message: Zapier or Make with an SMS provider, Wix Automations calling an SMS provider's API, or a form alert service. Formcrier texts UK mobiles.
Yes. Wix has a built-in way to add a WhatsApp link or button so visitors can message you. It's a different job from a form: you get whatever the visitor types, from their own number.
It shouldn't, if the script loads with async. Formcrier's is under 6KB compressed, sets no cookies and loads without holding up the page.
